How to Change the PL Directly on an Anytone 878 ot 578

Since the Valley Center Amateur Radio Club is changing the PL tone for its 2M repeater, and since many of the members use either or both Anytone 878 and 578 radios, we have tried to make it easy to change the PL tone directly on the radios without having to change the CodePlug in software and reloading it.

The PL prior to May 1, 2022 is 146.2Hz. As of May 1, 2022 it will be changed to 118.8Hz for BOTH transmit and receive.

Following is a step-by-step procedure:

1) Turn on the radio and select the correct channel. Most radios have it listed as VCARC 146.235;

2) Press MENU key, then using up/down ZONE buttons, select SETTINGS and press the SELECT button;

3) Press the up/down buttons to select CHAN SET and press the SELECT button;

4) Again, press the up/down buttons to select the TCDT and press the SELECT button;

5) Select CTC, and using the up/down buttons go to 118.8Hz and press the SELECT button;

6) When done press the BACK button TWICE to return to CHAN SET;

7) Next, press the up/down buttons to select RCDT and press the SELECT button;

8) Select CTC and using the up/down buttons go to 118.8Hz and press the SELECT button;

9) When done press the BACK button 5 times to return to exit (or just wait a few moments and the radio will return to normal operation);
